Brought to life by the WK Concept & Design team, this extraordinary space invites children to uncover the secrets of the Seychelles‘ legendary past as a pirate hideout while weaving in a forward-thinking focus on sustainability and care for the natural world.
Here, little adventurers can embrace their inner ‘eco pirates’, setting sail on exciting journeys inspired by sustainability, marine life and the breathtaking beauty of the local environment. Even the design reflects this ethos, with furniture and bespoke play features crafted from eco-friendly materials, earthy colour palettes that echo the island’s natural tones, and spaces that encourage children to explore the wonders of the environment responsibly.

In today’s fast-paced world, the landscape of training and learning is evolving rapidly.
At Worldwide Kids, adaptability has always been essential – we work internationally with staff caring for children aged 4 months to 17 years, so flexibility is embedded in our approach. We’ve always been proud of our ability to evolve, which is why we’ve embraced digital learning, adding a new dimension to the way we deliver training.

The WK portfolio now offers a range of practical, engaging online training courses, specifically developed to inspire childcare professionals within the luxury hospitality sector.
At Worldwide Kids, we understand that children learn through play, and we bring the same philosophy to training adults. Whether it’s running activities for kids or delivering training, it must be fun, participant-led, practical, and social.
So how have we translated this from face-to-face training to online?
Designing for Engagement, Not Just Information
We’ve never subscribed to the idea of learning as simply presenting information in a traditional classroom setting. Interaction, discussion, collaboration, and practical application are central to our approach. And let’s face it, anyone who’s spent hours on Zoom knows that not all virtual learning experiences are created equal!
That’s why we created our very own Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This purpose-built platform allows us to create, curate, and upload engaging content for learners while offering interactive opportunities.

It’s officially open! Welcome to our biggest Kids Club project to date, at the iconic Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi.
We were privileged to work on the new Kids Palace project, whereby Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental is challenging the norm on traditional kids clubs in hospitality.
Architecturally, the Kids Palace is a mini version of Emirates Palace itself, designed exclusively for children aged 0-17 years.

Our Senior Design Consultant, Megan Wilson, and her team at Worldwide Kids are on a mission to re-define children’s experiences in hospitality. Their dedication to creating innovative and unique design projects for some of the world’s largest luxury hotel groups is unparalleled. Plus, with ten years’ experience in childcare and the luxury hospitality sector, you can be sure you are in safe, expert hands. So, we caught up with Megan to find out how she is inspiring her clients to offer unforgettable experiences and spaces for kids through bespoke concepts and facility design.
- Can you walk us through the stages of a Worldwide Kids design project?
We pride ourselves on our holistic approach to design. We have tailored our design phases to suit the needs of the hospitality sector as we do all our products. A full WK design project includes 3 steps: step 1 is childcare concept and branding. In this step we orchestrate the narrative which will inspire the facility, its operations and the journey of the little guests who will eventually get to enjoy it. We take our time to study the resort, the brief and the brand, being careful to understand the demographic and offering which best suits the location. We try to involve stakeholders when developing this narrative to ensure everyone is as enthusiastic about the project as we are. Step 2 is where the fun really starts, this is the schematic design phase of the project, where we start to develop the 2D floor plans and subsequent 3D renderings. Step 3 is our detailed design phase, where Worldwide Kids provides a plethora of information and specifications to ensure our ideas can be executed to the highest standards.
- What is your creative process when designing childcare spaces?
Our inspiration will always stem from what the children want and need. We try to see ourselves in the eyes of a child in that environment and foresee what they wish to gain from their visit. I think what makes a childcare facility thrive is ensuring that the concept is engaging and welcoming for all children, as they are all unique. A kids’ club should provide a variety of different ways to play, engage and carry out activities. We are blessed with some very talented designers who create heartwarming and thoughtful concepts which give children using their spaces an outlet to showcase their own creativity and an opportunity to develop their talents while on holiday.
- How do you approach designing spaces that are both visually appealing and functional for children? (incl. safety)
Worldwide Kids has been perfecting the art of what children need in facilities for the hospitality industry for over 30 years, this experience has been imperative in shaping how we formulate our designs. Functionality will always be at the forefront of our minds when we develop ideas, we want children to engage with and benefit from what we include in our facilities. However, we also understand what aesthetic is expected for a luxury resort; we strive to bring the childcare facility design into the same league as the rest of the hotel. Ensuring all the ‘play’ is coated in opulence.
- What role do sustainability and environmental considerations play in your design approach for childcare facilities?
Worldwide Kids ethos includes our commitment to encouraging sustainability and mindful choices. We achieve this through various channels throughout our products. Our specific approach within the design team includes all areas of the design process; from how we make decisions, the materials we specify or the products we recommend, we are always striving to ensure we make economical and ethical choices. We are particularly careful with the installation choices we make, to ensure they provide longevity and continuous enjoyment rather than following trends which may not last.

Equipment and Resources
Real, authentic resources are essential in the daily life of a professional childcare department, and are a huge part of our operations at Worldwide Kids. If you gave a child a plastic lemon, how would they know the way it looks inside? Or the way it tastes, smells and feels?
There are endless benefits of including authentic, natural materials and resources in a childcare facility. Not only do they engage multiple senses and create a rich sensory experience for children, but they also develop emotional intelligence, as natural materials often require more creative and imaginative play than synthetic materials. Concept and Design
Inspired by a multitude of theorists in the childcare world, we know that a natural and sustainable environment is one in which a child can thrive. Worldwide Kids designs and recommends childcare spaces based on the principles of Biophilia. Biophilia emphasises the importance of maintaining a strong connection to nature, and the many benefits that can be gained from doing so.

Childcare requires extensive paperwork, which are required by law, to ensure and maintain regulatory compliance with standards for safety and quality of care. Particularly in luxury resorts, with a high turnover of children day in, day out, sufficient documentation is vital.
Worldwide Kids went digital in 2019 after phasing out the bundles of admin and paperwork that comes with looking after the little guest. Our WK Kids Management System allows families to pre-book their childcare and complete all necessary registrations via their mobile, laptop or tablet and can be integrated into resort applications. Completing documents digitally reduces paper consumption in resort and conserves natural resources, whilst ensuring a smooth experience for guests.
It is crucial for the well-being of our planet and future generations that we encourage children to be responsible and conscious consumers from an early age. By role modelling sustainable habits in daily life, we can empower children to make informed choices that have a positive impact on the environment. Although our activities are structured, adaptation is an essential element of WK childcare. This means that activities are continuously adapted to meet the needs of different age groups, abilities, and personalities. Having the freedom to adapt our activities also allows our teams to embrace a child-led approach to fun and learning.
Creating valuable and engaging experiences for each child is at the heart of what we do, so each activity provides an opportunity for reflection, so that experiences turn into life-long, positive memories.
Although our activities are designed in a structured way, they are constantly under review as we try them in resort, gather feedback from our little guests, their families and our teams – and develop them further.

Travel Forecast 2021A letter from our Managing Director

The Travel Industry continues it’s struggle to survive a global pandemic, yet there appears to be some green shoots of positivity on the horizon. It has certainly been an eye-opener to see the domino effect of lockdowns across the globe. While these have been essential to try to curtail the spread of this coronavirus, they have resulted in economic struggles for businesses and individuals alike.
Globally, we are seeing the approval of multiple vaccines which are being rolled out, initially to the most vulnerable. Provided the vaccine manufacturers can keep up with demand, these vaccines certainly give us a firm hope of a return for the travel industry, likely growing with a gradual reduction in restrictions.
New experiences enrich our lives, and travel is one superb way of fulfilling this. There is certainly a pent-up demand for travel from families, couples and individuals alike. Tentative holiday bookings are happening and I expect that demand to grow slowly in the coming months, as restrictions begin to ease. We expect to see an increase in the value of travel bookings as we all seek to fuel our travel bug, and reconnect.
In 2020 Worldwide Kids developed COVID-19 Safety in Childcare training for anyone working with children in leisure and hospitality. We developed physically distanced activity programming for kids, and updated standards across the board to enable us to work safely with young hotel guests. In practice our new protocols and training worked extremely well, resulting in consistently the best customer feedback we have ever had after looking after over 4500 children from July to October 2020.
This experience was invaluable in re-assessing how we approach risk limitation, health and hygiene. Clearly we had high standards and second-to-none protocols previously, but there is nothing like a once in a lifetime pandemic to refocus the mind!
So what can you expect from Worldwide Kids moving forwards?
- With the gradual opening of the travel industry in 2021 we are aware that face to face learning may not be possible initially. We have created a selection of blended eLearning programs for resorts to upskill their childcare knowledge and abilities. Our new eLearning programs mean that our world-class training is even more accessible for hotels of all sizes. Our Virtual Learning Environment enables clear and efficient learning, with effective controls and progress visibility for Learning and Development or Department Managers.
- New activity programming that can be delivered in a physically distanced environment indoors or out, as required by your region. Our new activity programs focus on fun, learning, environment and culture.
- Enhanced childcare facility and services audit checks – designed to verify every little detail of the facilities and services provided for their little guests.
Despite the uncertainty and challenges of 2020, we are positive that travel will rejuvenate throughout 2021. A few of the exciting projects we are working on include:
Zulal Wellness Resort – The world’s first family wellness resort will open in Khasooma, Qatar later this year. We are very excited to see this project come to fruition, managed by the renowned Chiva Som.
Alongside this LVMH Cheval Blanc Resort in the Maldives will open a brand new kids club experience. Emirates Palace managed by Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi will break ground on a state-of-the-art Children’s Palace, and Arabella Sheraton Mallorca, Spain are redeveloping their kids facilities and services to create two new age appropriate hideaways for kids.

The new ‘normal’ for travel will perhaps be obligatory vaccinations for travellers, and possibly the retention of face-covering requirements for closed environments. Though it’s true that masks potentially protect us from many airborne nasties. So perhaps a good long term change.
We think families will travel more consciously in environmental terms.
They will reconsider how and why they travel, choosing quality over quantity.
And booking via a travel agent will be the best way to book, for financial guarantees and an innate local knowledge that enables you to really maximise your travel experience and make the most of your trip.
Hotels will be cleaner and more efficient than they have ever been.
Service will continue to be at your table rather than queueing at the bar.
We expect to see an increase in multi-generational travel as families seek to reconnect, with every chance to meet now being even more special than before.
We think everyone will have a renewed vigour for travel, adventure and fun.

Childcare – Does it make…
…or break a holiday?
We know that taking advantage of Creche and Kids Clubs is a personal choice, and a great opinion divider of parents and their children! While holiday childcare is paramount to some parents, and essential to their holidaying experience, others view holidays as precious time meant to be spent together. This applies to children too. While some are happiest being in the thick of it, amongst other young guests, taking advantage of all the hotel has to offer them, for other young guests, being apart from their parents and being in the throng of an all singing, all dancing kids club is really not their idea of fun at all!
So, to use or not to use a childcare facility?

Online Booking
A trusting partnership that begins when you enquire about our childcare service or book sessions for your children. Trust is the foundation of any relationship between you and your childcare team, and Worldwide Kids gather as much information as possible in advance to deliver the best possible care, right from the start.
Our online booking system allows you to share this information with us during the booking process. If your child has any additional needs, our team will contact you before you travel to discuss how we support your family. This may include arranging 1:1 support, additional training or whatever we can do to make your experience better. We want parents to feel welcome to contact us to discuss any specific concerns or needs.
We want you to be confident that our service will enhance your holiday and allow you to enjoy valuable downtime.
Expert Recruitment
Our managed resorts childcare teams are put together by our expert HR consultants who offer a wealth of experience. We know what we’re looking for, to provide excellent childcare and the requirements needed to be an outstanding childcare practitioner. WK HR follows our safer recruitment policy undertaking all the necessary steps to ensure the staff employed are not only qualified, experienced, and passionate about childcare but who are also rigorously checked and referenced. All our team members will complete our City&Guilds accredited training before starting work and they will have access to ongoing on-going support, additional training, and a point of communication while they are working abroad.
Worldwide Kids also offer consultancy services to hotels and assist in either recruitment and or training their teams so you are assured that your children will have access to the same enviable childcare in whichever WK Accredited destination you choose.
Biophilic Design
It is important to Worldwide Kids that your children are provided for and comfortable in the hotel environment. Whether this is in our supervised childcare facilities, a family playground, children’s activity areas or with a fully trained babysitting service, WK does it all.
Over the past few years, we have been focussing on the principles of biophilia when designing recommending environments for children. We strive to create spaces that have an abundance of natural light, promote outdoor activities, are furnished with naturally sourced materials and plants. We do this because we know that connecting with nature enhances children’s wellbeing and cultivates value and awareness of their world, their future, and the choices they make and the consequences they may have.
Eco-Friendly Equipment
When recommending equipment, we aim to enhance our environments with products that are responsibly sourced, exciting, varied and age appropriate. These resources allow our teams to encourage children to explore and understand the world around them.
Eco-friendly products also support our sustainable partnerships with our hotel clients.
Activities for All Ages
The activity programmes we create are engaging, celebrate diversity and are fun. Children are given the opportunity to enjoy physical, creative, and cognitive activities during each morning and afternoon session. Activities take place indoors and outdoors, utilising the unique environments each hotel has to offer.
At WK our activities constantly evolve as our expert-led childcare teams learn from the children we work with to create new, innovative and exciting experiences.
Our clubs generally offer three sessions between 10am and 6pm for children aged between 4 months and 17 years.
Lunch Club (1pm-3pm) will allow younger guests to socialise with their friends and importantly, refuel. Together with the WK team, children can reflect on their morning together while enjoying the cuisine offered by the hotel, supported by WK staff. This is followed by free choice activities to recharge, ready to enjoy the afternoon session.
Evening activities are also offered to our younger guests. These sessions allow parents to indulge in a quiet dinner or some drinks, some well-deserved adult-only time, whilst children gain new experiences with new friends with a stargazing session or a movie night on the beach.
We operate our clubs to UK standards and have strict adult to child ratios in place. Our SOP’s are reviewed regularly by our Operations Team who asses our services to make sure they meet the current standards and needs of the services we deliver.
We recommend the following categories.
CRECHE – ages 4 months to 24 months and 24 months to 47 months.
KIDS CLUB – ages 4 years to 8 years and 9 years to 12 years.
TEENS – 13 years to 17 years.
Worldwide Kids know that offering first class creches for babies and toddlers staffed by qualified early years practitioners is an important factor for families, particularly if this is their first experience with holiday childcare. Hotels operating a qualified crèche are a decision maker for families with children under 4. Our creche staff offer a service that embraces the bespoke care needed for the youngest guests, their individual needs are met in nurturing and calm environments.
Our Kids Clubs meanwhile, captivate your children’s imagination, sparking creativity and enthusiasm. They are environments that encourage children to socialise, keep active and gain new skills whilst creating unforgettable memories.
Teen clubs and activities are often neglected in hotels. However, WK are mindful of the perceived challenges associated with working with teens, and offer a service that allows this age group to take charge of their entertainment under the guidance of our Teen Club Supervisor. Teen clubs offer a supervised environment for children to socialise and build new friendships, participate in exciting activities whilst feeling independent away from their parents. We safely utilise social media to engage our Teens and tap into the trends that are important to them. Our Teen programmes focus on wellbeing, sport, enjoying the outdoor environment, culture and embraces technology. It is important to us that in a time of their life that can have its challenges and demands our teens can unwind, reflect, and reset.
