From Family Resorts to Business Hotels: Benefit from Little Guest Offerings

22 August 2023

When you think about hotels and resorts, catering primarily to the family demographic might not be the first thing that comes to mind. Childcare services may not even be on your radar. But what if there was a way to tap into this market without committing to a permanent family-oriented setup? Let’s reconsider our perspectives and explore the potential of adaptable spaces in the hospitality industry.

Imagine having a versatile and multifunctional space at your disposal. This space holds the key to unlocking a world of possibilities. It’s not about boxing your property into a single market niche; it’s about embracing versatility to cater to different audiences throughout the year.

The concept is simple yet transformative.

The concept is simple yet transformative. During peak family vacation times, this multifunctional space can seamlessly transform into an engaging and interactive kids’ club. Picture parents feeling the joy of knowing their children are being cared for and entertained in a secure environment, while they take a breather and relish their stay.

But the story doesn’t end there. Think about the appeal of extending complimentary childcare services to your business travellers. This small addition can set you apart in the corporate travel landscape. Business professionals can immerse themselves in meetings, conferences, and engagements with the confidence that their children are well looked after. It’s a unique selling proposition that speaks to those who value a harmonious blend of work and family life.

In essence, this adaptable approach grants you the power to diversify your offerings without being locked into a singular identity. It’s about embodying change and responding to the dynamic demands of the market. By doing so, you’re not just accommodating different markets — you’re embracing them. You’re creating an experience that resonates with a broader spectrum of guests, crafting memories that transcend the ordinary.

This strategy isn’t just about meeting the needs of various demographics; it’s about truly understanding and connecting with them. You’re shaping your property into a destination that stands out by catering to the diverse needs of today’s travellers. Whether they’re seeking leisure or business, you’re positioning yourself as a property that comprehends their unique requirements. It’s time to shift your perspective and unlock the true potential of your property. JAMES GUNN

Our World: Sustainable and Mindful Choices in WK Childcare  https://worldwide-kids.com/our-world-sustainable-and-mindful-choices-in-wk-childcare/ Tue, 25 Apr 2023 11:51:00 +0000 https://worldwide-kids.com/?p=27087

Our World: Sustainable and Mindful Choices in WK Childcare

25 April 2023

At Worldwide Kids, we know that we have future generations amongst us, so it is important that we lead by example. Our little guests are the next generation who will inherit the environmental challenges we face today, and it is essential to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to create a sustainable future. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting mindful choices by practising sustainability in our operations and design services.

The snowball effect refers to the idea that small actions taken towards sustainability can build momentum and lead to bigger changes over time. By implementing sustainable materials, leading discussions and associating exciting, memorable activities around our environment and our responsibility to take care of it, we can inspire our little guests to think more broadly about how their actions can have a positive impact on the environment. As a result, we create a ripple of positive change that extends beyond the walls of our Kids Clubs and into the wider world.

Here are a few ways that Worldwide Kids practices sustainability within our services:

Equipment and Resources

Real, authentic resources are essential in the daily life of a professional childcare department, and are a huge part of our operations at Worldwide Kids. If you gave a child a plastic lemon, how would they know the way it looks inside? Or the way it tastes, smells and feels?

There are endless benefits of including authentic, natural materials and resources in a childcare facility. Not only do they engage multiple senses and create a rich sensory experience for children, but they also develop emotional intelligence, as natural materials often require more creative and imaginative play than synthetic materials. It also allows them to develop a connection with nature, which in turn promotes environmental awareness and a desire to preserve it.

We also encourage our teams to use resources that will have little to no impact on the environment. Whether that be recycled paper, biodegradable packaging, or sustainable art supplies, our operations teams are leading the evolution towards a more sustainable future. Liaising with other departments is a big part of the daily duty of our childcare teams – whether it is ‘stores’ getting rid of cardboard boxes, or gardeners refreshing plant life, we are there to put it all to good use.

“We believe that children are naturally geared towards an environment wider than their own; a craving to collect, connect and share with nature.” – James Gunn, Business Development Consultant at WK Management Consulting GmbH.

Activities

We are committed to encouraging sustainability and mindful choices when planning activities for children. To promote a sense of responsibility and respect for the natural environment, and ultimately give children the confidence to ask questions and explore the world they live in. Activities designed by Worldwide Kids offer a range of experiences that empower little guests, and give them the tools they need to make conscious decisions in their wider world, whilst maximising the potential fun to be had.

Following biophilic principles has been found to support cognitive function, physical health, and psychological wellbeing.

Our collaboration with other departments in resorts and the wider community is key to nurturing the experience that our young audience is having with us.

Leading activities and experiences surrounding our world assists children in developing a more comprehensive understanding beyond their immediate environment. By introducing them to different countries, cultures, languages and traditions, children become more open to diversities and respect for others. This is an important aspect of sustainability as it helps to create a more tolerant and peaceful world.

Concept and Design

Inspired by a multitude of theorists in the childcare world, we know that a natural and sustainable environment is one in which a child can thrive. Worldwide Kids designs and recommends childcare spaces based on the principles of Biophilia. Biophilia emphasises the importance of maintaining a strong connection to nature, and the many benefits that can be gained from doing so.

“We strive to create environments that have an abundance of natural light, promote outdoor activities, and are furnished with naturally sourced materials and plants. We do this because we know that connecting with nature enhances children’s wellbeing and cultivates value and awareness of their world, their future, and the choices they make and the consequences they may have.” – Emma Young, Operations Director at WK Management Consulting GmbH.

Long gone are the days of careless printing, plastic toys, and little awareness of the negative impacts on our environment. As the world continues to shift towards a more sustainable future, it is essential that childcare operations do the same because after all, they are our future generation. It is more important than ever for childcare facilities to promote sustainable practices, and that begins with the design and resources on offer. Moving away from mass-produced plastic decorations and toys, to sustainable, durable and high-quality materials reflects a growing awareness of the importance of sustainability and the need to reduce our impact on the environment for the sake of future generations.

Digital

Childcare requires extensive paperwork, which are required by law, to ensure and maintain regulatory compliance with standards for safety and quality of care. Particularly in luxury resorts, with a high turnover of children day in, day out, sufficient documentation is vital.

Worldwide Kids went digital in 2019 after phasing out the bundles of admin and paperwork that comes with looking after the little guest. Our WK Kids Management System allows families to pre-book their childcare and complete all necessary registrations via their mobile, laptop or tablet and can be integrated into resort applications. Completing documents digitally reduces paper consumption in resort and conserves natural resources, whilst ensuring a smooth experience for guests.

It is crucial for the well-being of our planet and future generations that we encourage children to be responsible and conscious consumers from an early age. By role modelling sustainable habits in daily life, we can empower children to make informed choices that have a positive impact on the environment. As children grow and mature, their mindfulness and sustainability practices will continue to benefit both themselves and the world around them.

Our long-standing partnerships with the world leaders in luxury hospitality allow us to continue fostering and maintaining our commitment to our little guests, by ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate an ever-changing world. BETH KEVAN

Luxury Resorts: The Family Experience

22 April 2022

Family tourism is driven by the ability of a resort to promote long-lasting memories, family togetherness and an escape from the day-to-day routine. A luxury holiday is personalised to each and every guest, meaning children deserve the full hotel experience too. Children want authentic, memorable and immersive experiences that are every bit as good as their parents. It is now, more than ever, expected of resorts to treat children as ‘VIP Guests’, and that holds a prominent position in the definition of a luxury family holiday.

Children want authentic, memorable and immersive experiences that are every bit as good as their parents.

The mind of a child is a wonderful thing. Children can pick up an ordinary object, such as a cardboard box, and see its potential to create a fort. ‘The Floor is Lava’ is a common favourite and again, requires no specialist toys, just regular furniture. But the fact of the matter is that they can experience those things at home. Families want to experience something far wider than their everyday life; to live it not just witness it.

Traditionally, resort childcare consisted of a supervised room with a handful of toys and pre-printed colouring pictures. Fast forward to 2022, families expect exceptional facilities, a high-quality childcare service, and knowledgeable, well-trained, and inspired staff. Feeling comfortable and confident that children are immersed in a fun, safe and engaging environment leaves the opportunity for parents to explore resort facilities designed especially for them.

In order to maintain a loyal family base, resorts should continually upgrade their services in line with guest expectations. As with any other consumer, children want to be understood. It is so important for businesses to understand the needs of a child to cater to them, which can sometimes be a daunting prospect. However, consulting with childcare professionals ensures your services don’t just ‘get it right’ but challenge the standard that guests have experienced elsewhere. Something can be appealing to a child, but that doesn’t mean it is safe and functional for its purpose. Understanding the way children view the world, is the best way to create a safe, supportive and purposeful environment.

There is a huge demand for resorts to take advantage of the opportunity to offer childcare and family services in an innovative way and contribute to the competitiveness of today’s family travel market. Working with a professional childcare consultant means organisations can create a unique service that not only serves a purpose but compliments the brand and puts them at the forefront of family travel.

There is a huge demand for resorts to take advantage of the opportunity to offer childcare and family services in an innovative way and contribute to the competitiveness of today’s family travel market.

Creating Experiences for Children

18 March 2021

At Worldwide Kids, we work with luxury hotels and resorts across the globe, from short haul destinations in Europe to long haul retreats in the Maldives, Mauritius, Vietnam, the Seychelles, The UAE and more. You might assume that a global pandemic would halt us in our tracks but instead, we have taken this time to research, update, and evaluate how we can continue our commitment to giving children and their families the best experience possible.

If you know of us already, you will be aware that we place children at the forefront of family holidays because we know that their experience is a crucial factor in measuring enjoyment. If you didn’t know about Worldwide Kids, keep reading to find out a little more about the WK experience, and how we are continuously adapting and enhancing our services for you.

Staying Current

The first example of how we have adapted in response to the coronavirus pandemic, is our newly developed online learning.  Built by industry experts, Worldwide Kids have created our very own virtual learning platform, allowing us to continue to support childcare teams in their professional development journey.  This in turn, gives families the peace of mind that their child will continue to have a safe, fun, and exciting experiences in WK accredited childcare around the world.

Keeping up to date with the latest developments in childcare, activities, and resources helps us to ensure we are relevant and exciting, while continuously enhancing our services to exceed the expectations of little guests and their families.

Children’s Safety…

…is at the very top of our priority list when it comes to your little ones.

All activities and offerings are carefully checked and risk assessed to ensure that guests can experience our creches, kids clubs or teens clubs with the peace of mind that they are free from risk of harm.

We support this commitment through our policies and procedures, risk assessments, ongoing training, working practices, and values.

Creating Memories That Last

At Worldwide Kids, we pride ourselves on recognising that each child is an individual with capacity for fun and learning, and we weave this through every aspect of our operation.  We know that children learn through play, so our activities are specifically designed to support this learning through fun and engagement.

The WK Ethos is based around our drive to provide meaningful opportunities for our little guests, in an environment where they can flourish and simply be. You could call it the perfect recipe!

We are striving to ensure that the next generation understand the value of sustainability and mindful choices, whilst incorporating nature into our activities and settings.

As we’ve mentioned, safety comes first, underpinning everything we do and allows us to relax and have fun, which happens to be next on our list of priorities! Enjoying themselves, while having valuable social interactions provides a positive environment for children to learn. Finally, we are striving to ensure that the next generation understand the value of sustainability and mindful choices, whilst incorporating nature into our activities and settings.

To support our team in delivering activities, and ensure each child gets the most from out of them, we have designed a specific structure that they each follow.  This structure introduces the activity and then allows for children to explore the theme or concept of the activity in detail. Although our activities are structured, adaptation is an essential element of WK childcare. This means that activities are continuously adapted to meet the needs of different age groups, abilities, and personalities. Having the freedom to adapt our activities also allows our teams to embrace a child-led approach to fun and learning.

Creating valuable and engaging experiences for each child is at the heart of what we do, so each activity provides an opportunity for reflection, so that experiences turn into life-long, positive memories.

Although our activities are designed in a structured way, they are constantly under review as we try them in resort, gather feedback from our little guests, their families and our teams – and develop them further.

This approach means that we are learning too, from the imagination and creativity of the children we work with – it is their ideas, feedback, and responses that allow us to keep creating unique, tailored programmes.

This is something that we take pride in – the fact that our learning as company is a continuous wheel – it doesn’t stop!

A craving to collect, connect and share with nature.

Spending Time in Nature

We believe that children are naturally geared towards an environment wider than their own; a craving to collect, connect and share with nature.

Following biophilic principles has been found to support cognitive function, physical health, and psychological wellbeing.  This is why we like to incorporate these aspects into our activities and spaces.

Inclusive Childcare

Worldwide Kids’ environments are known for being inclusive in all aspects, and will support your little ones whatever their journey.

Our childcare teams acknowledge that we are all so wonderfully unique and have different individual needs, and demonstrate this through interactions, activities and settings which are inclusive and provide equal opportunities for all.

We welcome families to make their child’s experience safe, fun and comfortable whilst using Worldwide Kids services.

Personal Service

We have the ability, drive, and effort to recognise and respond to individual family values and use this to create personalised experiences at the highest level to ensure you depart from our services feeling well taken care of.

Our childcare teams are equipped with a multitude of strategies and techniques to communicate effectively with families to allow them the opportunity to keep up to date with their child’s journey.

Our aim is to create an experience for our little guests like no other.

WK activities, settings and operations are designed to give access to the world and allow learning through play. To provide opportunities to ignite their little minds to create, share, make mistakes and to be resilient.

Our approach to activities allows us to endlessly create unique, tailored programs that balance the needs of all our little guests’ and we are confident that this is the pathway to a positive and meaningful experience.

We support your little ones with structured yet flexible activities, enabling environments, and positive practices, as they lead the way. This is the WK approach, designed for children to unlock an array of benefits such as a higher sense of self-esteem and developed social relationships.

At Worldwide Kids, we strive to have a valuable influence on children’s overall well-being and development and create experiences that are positive and memorable.  We don’t want to just ‘get it right’, we want to challenge ourselves to exceed your expectations every time.

We look forward to having you join us on our journey. JAMES GUNN

Worldwide Kids
Childcare

11 February 2021

Childcare – Does it make…

…or break a holiday?

We know that taking advantage of Creche and Kids Clubs is a personal choice, and a great opinion divider of parents and their children! While holiday childcare is paramount to some parents, and essential to their holidaying experience, others view holidays as precious time meant to be spent together. This applies to children too. While some are happiest being in the thick of it, amongst other young guests, taking advantage of all the hotel has to offer them, for other young guests, being apart from their parents and being in the throng of an all singing, all dancing kids club is really not their idea of fun at all!

So, to use or not to use a childcare facility?

Ultimately it is about finding a balance that suits your family and underpins the holiday experience you all wish to have. The saying “happy children, happy parents” really goes a long way. Hotels that offer adult experiences alongside great childcare facilities and family activities are acknowledging that family holidays are for recuperation, reconnecting and discovery for all.

Our mission at Worldwide Kids is to help hotels, parents and children strike this balance; making the most of quality time together as a family and enjoying everything that resorts have to offer. We want to help you create strong relationships, and long-lasting memories with your chosen holiday destination.

Worldwide Kids – In a Nutshell

Worldwide Kids are the leading provider of kids’ club concept development and design. We provide facility audits and safer childcare staff recruitment. Our world-leading City & Guilds accredited vocational training offers specially developed courses that allow childcare staff access to essential learning and development, allowing you to feel confident with their safe, exciting, and fun childcare facilities.

Worldwide Kids believe in creating unique, engaging, environments accessible to all, where you can be safe in the knowledge that children can have fun and flourish. Children’s safety and well-being underpins all aspects of Worldwide Kids and our Accreditation award is an independent seal of excellence showing that world-class services and facilities are being provided and upheld.

Once we are confident that children are safe, we can focus on fun! We aim to immerse the children in empowering environments that inspire. Children should have positive, enjoyable, and memorable experiences. Shared fun also allows children to establish new friendships, build self-esteem, and develop social skills.

At Worldwide Kids, we recognise a child’s ability to learn through play and encourage this with carefully structured activities and experiences. Worldwide Kids always asks how an activity is developing knowledge, understanding, or social skills. Our enriching activities allow children to enjoy unforgettable moments, and simply be.

Worldwide Kids are committed to encouraging sustainability and mindful choices when creating spaces and planning activities for children. To promote a sense of responsibility and respect for the natural environment, and ultimately give children the confidence to ask questions and explore the world they live in.

What to expect…

…when choosing a Worldwide Kids childcare service.

Online Booking

A trusting partnership that begins when you enquire about our childcare service or book sessions for your children. Trust is the foundation of any relationship between you and your childcare team, and Worldwide Kids gather as much information as possible in advance to deliver the best possible care, right from the start.

Our online booking system allows you to share this information with us during the booking process. If your child has any additional needs, our team will contact you before you travel to discuss how we support your family. This may include arranging 1:1 support, additional training or whatever we can do to make your experience better. We want parents to feel welcome to contact us to discuss any specific concerns or needs.

We want you to be confident that our service will enhance your holiday and allow you to enjoy valuable downtime.

Expert Recruitment

Our managed resorts childcare teams are put together by our expert HR consultants who offer a wealth of experience. We know what we’re looking for, to provide excellent childcare and the requirements needed to be an outstanding childcare practitioner. WK HR follows our safer recruitment policy undertaking all the necessary steps to ensure the staff employed are not only qualified, experienced, and passionate about childcare but who are also rigorously checked and referenced. All our team members will complete our City&Guilds accredited training before starting work and they will have access to ongoing on-going support, additional training, and a point of communication while they are working abroad.

Worldwide Kids also offer consultancy services to hotels and assist in either recruitment and or training their teams so you are assured that your children will have access to the same enviable childcare in whichever WK Accredited destination you choose.

Biophilic Design

It is important to Worldwide Kids that your children are provided for and comfortable in the hotel environment. Whether this is in our supervised childcare facilities, a family playground, children’s activity areas or with a fully trained babysitting service, WK does it all.

Over the past few years, we have been focussing on the principles of biophilia when designing recommending environments for children. We strive to create spaces that have an abundance of natural light, promote outdoor activities, are furnished with naturally sourced materials and plants. We do this because we know that connecting with nature enhances children’s wellbeing and cultivates value and awareness of their world, their future, and the choices they make and the consequences they may have.

Worldwide Kids Family Wellness Design – Zulal Wellness Resort, Qatar

Eco-Friendly Equipment

When recommending equipment, we aim to enhance our environments with products that are responsibly sourced, exciting, varied and age appropriate. These resources allow our teams to encourage children to explore and understand the world around them.

Eco-friendly products also support our sustainable partnerships with our hotel clients.

Activities for All Ages

The activity programmes we create are engaging, celebrate diversity and are fun. Children are given the opportunity to enjoy physical, creative, and cognitive activities during each morning and afternoon session. Activities take place indoors and outdoors, utilising the unique environments each hotel has to offer.

At WK our activities constantly evolve as our expert-led childcare teams learn from the children we work with to create new, innovative and exciting experiences.

Our clubs generally offer three sessions between 10am and 6pm for children aged between 4 months and 17 years.

Lunch Club (1pm-3pm) will allow younger guests to socialise with their friends and importantly, refuel. Together with the WK team, children can reflect on their morning together while enjoying the cuisine offered by the hotel, supported by WK staff. This is followed by free choice activities to recharge, ready to enjoy the afternoon session.

Evening activities are also offered to our younger guests. These sessions allow parents to indulge in a quiet dinner or some drinks, some well-deserved adult-only time, whilst children gain new experiences with new friends with a stargazing session or a movie night on the beach.

We operate our clubs to UK standards and have strict adult to child ratios in place. Our SOP’s are reviewed regularly by our Operations Team who asses our services to make sure they meet the current standards and needs of the services we deliver.

We recommend the following categories.

CRECHE – ages 4 months to 24 months and 24 months to 47 months.

KIDS CLUB – ages 4 years to 8 years and 9 years to 12 years.

TEENS – 13 years to 17 years.

Worldwide Kids know that offering first class creches for babies and toddlers staffed by qualified early years practitioners is an important factor for families, particularly if this is their first experience with holiday childcare. Hotels operating a qualified crèche are a decision maker for families with children under 4. Our creche staff offer a service that embraces the bespoke care needed for the youngest guests, their individual needs are met in nurturing and calm environments.

Our Kids Clubs meanwhile, captivate your children’s imagination, sparking creativity and enthusiasm.  They are environments that encourage children to socialise, keep active and gain new skills whilst creating unforgettable memories.

Teen clubs and activities are often neglected in hotels. However, WK are mindful of the perceived challenges associated with working with teens, and offer a service that allows this age group to take charge of their entertainment under the guidance of our Teen Club Supervisor.  Teen clubs offer a supervised environment for children to socialise and build new friendships, participate in exciting activities whilst feeling independent away from their parents.  We safely utilise social media to engage our Teens and tap into the trends that are important to them. Our Teen programmes focus on wellbeing, sport, enjoying the outdoor environment, culture and embraces technology. It is important to us that in a time of their life that can have its challenges and demands our teens can unwind, reflect, and reset.

So, why Worldwide Kids?

We appreciate how important younger guests are within a hotel environment and how very easily they can be overlooked and almost forgotten. We champion investment in creating engaging child specific facilities and activities that afford the children a unique holiday experience of their very own. Recognition, valuing them as individuals and engaging with the younger guests can only promote positivity for all the family. This in turn encourages them to return and to continue to create everlasting memories.

Working in partnerships with hotels, families, children, and childcare professionals, Worldwide Kids continue to lead the way in providing the highest standard of childcare, childcare facilities, training and development. EMMA YOUNG
